Foods I am Thankful For
Last year, we asked our children if they really needed the traditional thanksgiving dinner. YES they screamed, we want turkey “with all the trimmings”. We reminded them that their school would be serving a full Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday, did we really need to do it all again on Thursday? YES they screamed. Thursday morning came, DH and I cooked up a storm for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings and the children protested “But we just ate this yesterday, we don’t want it now.”
About a week ago, I reminded them of this conversation last year and posed the question a little differently. “What food are you most thankful for?” Ahh … much better phrase. The answer came quick and was unanimous … “BREAKFAST”. Our family loves breakfast and we do a great breakfast, so last night we set the menu:
Waffles with Blueberries
Egg cupcakes with some green veggie mixed in (broccoli? asparagus?)
Bacon and Corned Beef Hash
Carrot Cake
Sounds good, doesn’t it? This will be a meal (fingers crossed) that we won’t see any tears, tantrums or stand offs, and maybe the kids will behave too … ba dum bump …
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
